17-year-old Jacob Latimore is celebrating the recent release of his new single Heartbreak Heard Around the World. “This song is basically me opening up about how I feel about my girl,” said Latimore. “I definitely related to it.”
The R&B/Soul track features T-Pain. “T-Pain put a nice spice on it,” said Latimore.
Latimore is currently shooting the music video for Heartbreak Heard Around the World. The singer, who turns 18 in August, has been working hard to reach his dreams. “I would call this industry a grown man’s business,” said Latimore. “I like showing people that I am young, but I can really put my heart and soul into this. I really love this career so I’m definitely going to strive to be the best no matter what age bracket I’m in.”
In addition to singing, Latimore has acting experience in movies such as Black Nativity, Ride Along and the upcoming film, The Maze Runner. Adapted from the first book in the science fiction trilogy by James Dashner, The Maze Runner will hit theaters on September 19.
Latimore said the movie was shot in the fields and woods of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “It was a different experience being out in the ‘wild’ because I’m a city boy,” said Latimore.
He said the young cast bonded throughout the filming process. “We stayed in one hotel, so we were with each other 24/7 and we built a really nice relationship. I think the chemistry showed in the film,” said Latimore.
When asked about memories from the set, Latimore opened up about his fear of snakes. “There were a bunch of snake wranglers on set and they caught five or six snakes a day. They didn’t want any of us getting bit,” said Latimore. “I’m just a scaredy-cat, making sure I’m stepping in the right places.”
In the future Latimore would love to collaborate with artists such as Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Timbaland, Jason Derulo, Usher and Chris Brown. “I want to get a feel for everybody and different types of music,” said Latimore.
